A new season of Apollo’s signature series returns! Known as one of New York’s most popular live entertainment experiences, Amateur Night at The Apollo attracts performers and audiences from around the world in a classic talent competition that has launched the careers of countless legendary artists, from Ella Fitzgerald, Luther Vandross, Lauryn Hill, H.E.R, Machine Gun Kelly, Jazmine Sullivan and more.
Join the fun with the weekly classic competition that sheds light on the careers of a whole new roster of stars. Be a part of the notoriously “tough” audience in an interactive evening unlike any other and lend your voice to decide who will “Be Good or Be Gone!” to win the triumphant grand prize.
Amateur Night at The Apollo sponsored by Coca-Cola, is hosted by the comedian Capone. Each show begins with a festive pre-party featuring video and music by DJ Jess and Set It Off Man Greginald Spencer. Keep a lookout for C.P. Lacey, the resident Executioner who sweeps bad talent off the stage!

Asian American International Film Festival: Opening Screening and Reception

Join us to celebrate forty-seven years of Asian American cinematic programming, in partnership with Asian CineVision. We’re pleased to host the opening night of this year’s Asian American International Film Festival with an impactful and poignant opening screening, followed by a performance, Q-and-A, and reception.
With opening film Nobuko Miyamoto: A Song in Movement, filmmakers Tadashi Nakamura and Quyên Nguyen-Le deftly explore Nobuko Joanne Miyamoto’s decades of groundbreaking cultural work that has united communities, set the bar for Asian American storytelling, and encapsulates this year’s theme of memory, reconnection and vibrant Asian American community. Singer, dancer, and long-time activist of the AAPI community Nobuko Miyamoto rounds off the fifty-five minute film with a live performance, accompanied by Derek Nakamoto. There will then be a Q&A with Nobuko Miyamoto and filmmakers Tadashi Nakamura and Quyên Nguyen-Le. The film, performance and panel make for rich grounds for conversation at our light reception afterwards.

Summer Jazz: Rachiim Ausar-Sahu and Jazz/Espiritu

Stop by the Museum’s lobby for performances by some of the city’s best jazz musicians. In August, enjoy an afternoon of spiritual jazz in the tradition of honored musical elders and ancestors. Led by acclaimed bassist and composer Rachiim Ausar-Sahu, a Brooklyn native, the Jazz/Espiritu ensemble features drummer Will Calhoun, percussionist Chief Baba Neil Clarke, keyboardist Brandon McCune, multi-reedist Irwin Hall, and vibraphonist Bryan Carrott. Presented in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America.

What once began as a collective of musicians gathering on the Lower East Side of New York City now enters 2024 as a supergroup. Glenn Patscha (Bonnie Raitt), Byron Isaacs (The Lumineers), Tony Leone (Little Feat), Fiona McBain (The Nine Seas), and Amy Helm (solo artist) reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first album. Their music is joyful, accessible, and exhilarating, a perfect evening at Caramoor! Come hear how they take early American gospel, folk, and mountain music and drag it into the future with the utmost respect and abandon.

Dizzy’s Club proudly presents Ted Nash’s bi-monthly residency featuring his hard swinging big band. Known for his boundless creativity as an arranger and performer, Nash leads multiple innovative projects while touring as a core member of the JLCO. His residency continues with Jazz Meets Pop, bonding pivotal film scores, musical theater selections, and iconic pop bands with “the improvisational spirit and sophistication of jazz.” Expect an evening of brilliant interactivity and a thrilling sense of spontaneity.

Join Bruce Harris, one of New York’s most versatile and compelling trumpet masters, for a celebratory evening in tribute to a true icon of the instrument: Donald Byrd. Poster House is thrilled to host the second installation of Posters & Cocktails LIVE, a tribute to New York City.
Join Nicholas Lowry of Swann Auctions Galleries, Don Spiro of the Green Fairy Society, and our very own Chief Curator & Director of Content, Angelina Lippert, for a night of high-proof entertainment surrounded by the best of New York City’s historic advertising.
The evening will switch between specialty travel-themed cocktails and the witty reparté of Nicho and Angelina as they highlight New York travel posters featuring ships, trains, and planes all headed to the Big Apple. Prepare for the wildest night at a museum you’ll ever have, with louche laughs and art historical amusements.
Ticket prices include three custom-made cocktails.
Marvelous Mints Wellness Workshop

The mint family contains some of our most popular garden plants, and most important medicines. With over 6,000 different species, this plant family has an impressive presence in our daily lives. Move beyond peppermint and lavender as we get to know some of our native wild mint family herbs, their unique personalities and delicious ways to use them in food, skincare and medicinal preparations. Tastings, recipes and a potted mint plant included, plus one remedy made in class for use at home.
Roger Ferney-Cortés: Johny Paleta in the Garden

Roger Ferney-Cortés invokes the iconic “paletero” street cart vendor of popsicles and ice cream in his interactive mobile sculpture, Johny Paleta. Fabricated to scale on wheels, the sculpture is composed of a retractable mirrored infinity cube visible through a series of apertures shaped after flora found at Wave Hill. Visitors are invited to peer into a microcosm that reflects and refracts their faces and bodies, the environment and light, capturing a fleeting moment in the garden. On Sat, Jul 20 at 3PM and on Sat, Aug 10 at 1PM, Johny Paleta will traverse the grounds of Wave Hill, offering a playful and interactive artwork that reflects the beauty of visitors and their communities, and serves as an homage to the street vendor culture of immigrant communities in the Bronx and beyond. Organized as part of the exhibition Roger Ferney-Cortés: Johny Paleta, on view in the Sunroom Project Space through Sun, Aug 11.
