Monk’s music gets a Latin jazz spin in this edition of Salsa Meets Jazz, led by longtime JLCO bassist Carlos Henriquez. Inspired by his album Monk con Clave, Carlos and a full big band bring Thelonious Monk’s unmistakable melodies into the groove of the clave, letting the rhythms open up and the band lean into the swing. It’s lively, rhythmic, and full of the kind of musical conversation that keeps the room buzzing at Dizzy’s Club.
