When I think of my mom, I picture all of us outdoors—relaxing in the backyard or at the beach. She’s happiest when we’re together in the sunshine and fresh air, especially when it turns into a grilled lunch full of vegetables—simple, fresh, and full of flavor. Some of my favorite moments are having her, my sister, and my brother-in-law over while Mike grills, turning the meal into an experience. He always takes care of everything, which makes me feel especially loved and appreciated even more now, because I’m a mom myself. And as my mom became a grandma—or baba, as we call her—it all feels even more meaningful to carry on these traditions of cooking, gathering, and creating memories with my own family.
Now, as a mother herself, those moments come full circle—time together, thoughtful meals, and traditions shared across generations.
